My Story
When I was a freshman in college, my mother was diagnosed with liver cancer. I was devastated. And while I was fortunate enough to spend time with her before her passing, I was never prepared for the loss I would feel once she was gone. It’s like it left a hole in my heart and life.
After college, I moved away to Atlanta, Georgia, I started a career in advertising, got married and believed – like many people do – that ‘time would heal.’ Little did I know that not long down the road, I would get pregnant…and lose my child, Liam, to stillbirth.
There I was again in pain and anguish, lost in the death of my son and marriage. This time it was different. I couldn’t just move away or get busy to ‘make it’ go away. No amount of therapy or time would heal these wounds.
In fact, years later, I attended a presentation where a woman spoke about the loss of her son. I found myself in an uncontrollable sob. While life had moved forward, with my career in coaching, a dog, a new husband and travels around the world. Suddenly, I was right back in the pain of losing Liam and my mom. Turns out that speaker was a certified specialist of The Grief Recovery Method.
The rest is history…
I completed the program; and for the first time in my adult life, I truly began the healing journey. While nothing could ever take away the loss for me, The Grief Recovery Method Program showed me how to emotionally heal the relationships that ended too soon and the first steps to finding my way back to joyful living again.
